About The Happy Sunflower

Beth Ann Hanson started creating and selling her hand painted ornaments in 1995. For many years she would pack up her creations with her mother and sell them at local crafts fairs all along the North Shore on the weekends. People really responded to her personalized creations and would return to her booth year after year to purchase their ornaments. Over the years she expanded her creations to include seasonal pins, cute sayings, frames and her signature floral designs. In 2005, She further expanded into the world of wedding and party design/planning and interior decorating.
April 2011, The Happy Sunflower opened its doors on Historic Pickering Wharf in Salem, Massachusetts. The store was small and set back from the other retail stores but it was perfect for Beth's vision of a cute and unique shop that displayed her creations along with allowing local artisans a space to sell their creations.
After only 9 months of being at that location she expanded to a larger, more visible location next to Finz Restaurant
Beth's philosophy is simple..."If I don't love it, I don't bring it in. I know it's a business and I obviously need to make money to survive but I think being 100% behind the products I bring in and having integrity in their pricing is more important in the long run. My customers appreciate that I really try to find the best quality items I can. I really like to know who I'm buying from so learning about the companies I want to buy from is a must. Finding out why someone sells/makes their products is important...knowing someone is passionate about their products makes me feel good about my decision to buy from them. About 80% of the items I sell are Made In The USA which is important to me...I'm helping local artists sell their wares and achieve their small business dream and they are helping me provide my customers with unique and handmade items...it's a win win"
The Happy Sunflower is a bright and cheerful store where you can find a variety of gifts and cards.
